The intrinsically open-minded, open-ended and democratic nature of philosophical enquiry makes it especially well-suited to problem-solving and relationship-building in community settings. Exploring topics in a facilitated, supportive space, centred on listening, understanding and reasoned discussion, can also be enjoyable, enriching, and life-affirming. It can even just be fun!

Philosophy provides many tools for approaching group discussion, and as such has many potential uses in community settings, such as social enterprises, arts organisations, and charities. We would love to work with community group leaders, to explore creative possibilities for undertaking philosophical enquiry with their clients.
